Calendars

Where do district calendars come from?

When you set a child’s school on the Kids page, that district’s calendar is added for you. It shows days off, early releases, breaks and school events. It loads right away and stays up to date.

How do I add a team or activity calendar?

Copy the team’s calendar link, then paste it under Calendars in Settings and tap Add. Links starting with https:// or webcal:// both work. Where to find the link:

  • TeamSnap: on the TeamSnap website (not the app), open your team, then Schedule, Settings, and Sync Calendar / Export. Copy the calendar link.
  • SportsEngine: on your team’s page, find the Event List and tap iCal. Copy the link it shows.
  • GameChanger: in the app, open your team and tap the gear. Tap Schedule Sync, then Sync Schedule to Your Calendar, then Sync Google Calendar, then Send Link and Instructions. Copy the link from the email GameChanger sends you.
  • Google Calendar: the “Public address in iCal format”, or a share or embed link. The calendar must be public.
  • Any other site: look for “Subscribe”, “iCal”, “Sync” or “Add to calendar”.

Can I add a Google Calendar someone shared with me?

Yes, if it’s public. Paste its “Public address in iCal format”, or its share or embed link. If the calendar is private, ParentDeck can’t read it. Ask the owner to make it public, or to send the iCal link.

How often do calendars update?

Calendars refresh when you open your calendar, if they’re more than 12 hours old. District calendars also refresh every morning. A change the coach just made may take up to 12 hours to appear.

How do I turn a calendar off?

In Settings, under Calendars, switch it off. Its events leave your calendar. You can turn it back on anytime.

How do I choose who a calendar is for?

In Settings, under Calendars, tap Change under the calendar. Automatic shows a district calendar for the kids at its schools, and a team calendar for everyone. You can pick Everyone, or check one or more kids. The calendar’s events then show under those kids only.

Why aren’t district events in my Home feed?

On purpose. District events like board meetings would crowd out what matters for your family. They’re on your calendar, and the morning email lists them under “From school calendars”.

How do Month and Week work?

Use Month or Week at the top of the calendar. ParentDeck remembers your choice on each device. Use the arrows to move, or Today to jump back.
