What do the sections mean?

  • Needs action: something you have to do, like a form, a payment or a sign-up, with a deadline today or later. Anything overdue by up to 3 days stays here until you mark it Done.
  • Today: what’s happening today.
  • This week: the next 7 days.
  • Coming up: 8 to 30 days out. Collapsed, with a count.
  • Updates: family news with no date. Collapsed, but it opens on its own when something new arrived today or yesterday.
  • General updates: school-wide news that isn’t specific to your family, like district announcements. Collapsed, at the bottom.

What do Done and Hide do?

  • Done: you’ve handled it. It leaves Needs action and stays on its date with a quiet Done mark.
  • Hide: it isn’t relevant. It disappears from Home.

Both are shared with everyone in your household. Each has an Undo.

  • Phone: swipe a row to see them.
  • Computer: hover over it.
  • Detail page: use the buttons there.

Where do Done and hidden items go?

Open “Done and hidden” from your Home page. You can bring anything back from there.

What is “Which kid?”

Emails ParentDeck couldn’t match to a child. Tap “Who is this for?” and pick a kid, or Everyone. ParentDeck remembers your answer for that item.

An item is on the wrong kid. How do I fix it?

Open the item, then choose the right kid under “Who is this for?”. Your choice sticks, even if the item is updated later.

How do I make ParentDeck always put a sender’s emails under one kid?

Open an email’s item and pick the kid under “Who is this for?”. If that sender’s emails have only gone to that kid, ParentDeck offers to always put them under that kid. Tap Yes.

New emails from that sender then go to that kid. For team apps like sportsYou, the rule can cover one team only. If you rename that team on your kid’s page, make the rule again.

  • Change or delete a rule: go to Settings, then “Sorting rules”.
  • Not now: we won’t ask again about that sender and kid for 30 days. If you move a second email from that sender to the same kid, we ask again.
  • Your own answer wins: an item you sorted yourself stays where you put it.

Rules are shared with everyone in your household.

A date or deadline is wrong.

Open the item and tap “View original email” to check the details. If ParentDeck got it wrong, tell us with “Send feedback”. It helps us improve.

Coming soonEditing the date yourself.

An email didn’t show up. What do I check?

  1. Wait a few minutes. Long newsletters take longer.
  2. Check “Done and hidden” in case it was hidden.
  3. Check that you sent it to your ParentDeck address. It’s in Settings under “Your forwarding address”.
  4. If it should have forwarded on its own, check that your rule includes that sender. iCloud users: make sure the rule is on your iPhone or at icloud.com, not in Mail on a Mac.
  5. Forward it by hand. If it still doesn’t appear, send us a note.

Should I forward an email again if it didn’t show up?

Yes, forwarding it again is fine. If ParentDeck already has it, the new copy is usually merged with the first. If you see two, mark one Done.

Can I see the original email?

Yes. Open the item and tap “View original email”.

Coming soonDeleting original emails after 90 days. The item stays.

What does “On your family’s list” mean?

It means the item is about your family, not just general school news. If something landed in General updates that matters to you, open it and tap “This is for our family”.
